Starting in 1993 one week in September is annually marked by global society as the Week of the Global Action «We clear the World» («Let us clear the planet of rubbish»).
The «Let us clear the planet of rubbish» action was first held in September 1990 by the Austrian population – they massively cleaned the ocean’s beaches. Gradually the action was joined by other countries and today millions of volunteers from 100 nations participate. People from different continents devote a week in September to organize rubbish collection and disposal in their city or travel to other points of the planet with ecologic aims. In many cities outreach campaigns devoted to ecologic and economic benefits of waste processing are held. People clear places of resort, beaches, urban forests and reservoirs, suburban areas and rivers of rubbish, plant trees, hold exhibitions, concerts and press conferences.
In 2004 the action was first held in Russia, in St. Petesburg.
It was a dramatized sorting of waste aimed at demonstration to citizens of the benefits of segregated household waste delivery and the possibility of beneficial product delivery as a result of complex waste processing.
The goal of the global «let us clear the planet of rubbish» action is attraction of people’s attention to environment pollution and the planet’s littering issues, and also the development of household attitude towards the environment skills and upgrading the ecologic culture and competence. On average 20 tons of raw material, most of which (approximately 97%) goes to waste, are spent per every of Earth’s inhabitants, which generates piles of rubbish, that threatens the health and life of living organisms, since it leads to groundwater pollution and toxic gas expansion.
The Organizing committee and executive direction of the Russian Industrial and Environmental forum RosPromEco congratulate all with the beginning of the Global action «We clear the world» («Let us clear the planet of rubbish») in 2015 and encourage to adequately contribute to its holding.
